Building TRUST for West Valley mental health crisis response
Santa Clara County’s Trusted Response Urgent Support Team (TRUST) program has a mental health professional available to assess, de-escalate, and connect individuals in crisis with counseling, mediation or mental health services — instead of an emergency department or jail. Plans for West Valley health clinic move forward
The Board of Supervisors voted to continue to pursue plans to develop a full-service County health clinic on the De Anza College campus in Cupertino.
West Valley “teacher housing” effort progresses
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors selected a nonprofit development partner to build affordable housing for teachers and school staff in the West Valley. County Supervisors Joe Simitian and Otto Lee proposed the effort to enable local teachers and school staff to live in the communities they serve.

In 2023, the Office of County Supervisor Joe Simitian made real progress on issues championed related to health care, affordable housing, land use, education, community safety, and support for seniors and people with developmental disabilities — to the benefit of folks in District Five and countywide.
Progress on West Valley Health Clinic!
Santa Clara County and the Foothill-De Anza Community College District complete feasibility study to bring a Valley Health Center clinic to the the De Anza Community College campus in Cupertino. A community engagement process is scheduled for late 2023 and early 2024.
