Supervisors seek to improve wireless connections and safety for residents in fire-prone areas
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal by County Supervisor Joe Simitian that seeks to ensure service is maintained to wireless customers in wildfire-prone areas during a disaster or power outage. In times of emergency and disaster, wireless networks are critical infrastructure for emergency response.
Supervisors adopt new Stanford Community Plan
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors adopted an updated Stanford University Community Plan, effectively approving new policies for governing the University’s future growth. The new Community Plan is the biggest update to the University's growth policies since the County approved the current Plan in 2000, and enhances efforts to address traffic, housing and open space concerns.
New fire truck “expands” local firefighting efforts
To improve firefighting efforts and bolster mutual aid resources in the region,the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors today approved an agreement between the Santa Clara County Central Fire Protection District (Central Fire) and the Los Altos Hills County Fire District (LAHCFD) for the purchase of a new fire truck to replace an older model, which will become LAHCFD’s new reserve engine, and replace the current 20-year-old reserve apparatus.
Supervisors push for ‘mental health parity,’ improved access for all
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors a proposal that seeks to ensure that people seeking coverage for mental health care can access treatment as easily as people seeking coverage for medical treatments.
Supervisors act to improve road safety
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors took action to improve road safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists in the North County. The Board approved funding for a Multimodal Feasibility Study that will identify infrastructure improvements to allow bicyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles to safely share the right of way along Foothill Expressway and Junipero Serra Boulevard.
Giving caregivers the care – and resources – they/we need
Caregivers — whether a family member, a community volunteer, or paid helpers — provide life-enhancing, indeed often life-saving, in-home support. Finding capable, compassionate care is a concern for many here in Santa Clara County, especially now.
“Making Homes Work” better for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Approximately 80 percent of Santa Clara County residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) live in their family homes. County support enables individuals with I/DD to stay in their homes as they age.

Sanborn Park clean up allows a brighter future
Sanborn County Park site restoration moves forward with the remediation and clean-up of the former Christensen Nursery, enabling next steps for the Sanborn County Master Plan implementation, which will facilitate in the creation of new campgrounds, trail connections, and other recreational activities for the community.
