October 4, 2023: $100 a Day film screening and discussion panel
County Supervisor Joe Simitian hosted a free screening of the documentary film, “$100 A Day,” which tells the story of Rick Walker, a man wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit. The screening was followed by a panel discussion on wrongful incarceration. More information.
September, 20 2023: Understanding our kids: youth mental health and the road to resilience
County Supervisor Joe Simitian moderated a panel of mental health providers and students, who shared how to support mental health, and how to check in and talk with youth, about teen mental health and wellbeing. The panel also included a screening of the documentary “The Peer-to-Peer Movement: Students Saving Lives”. More information.
April 29, 2023: How to Avoid Phishing Scams
Supervisor Joe Simitian, along with Stanford Internet Observatory Research Scholar Riana Pfefferkorn, spoke on the topic of online and telephone scams. Pfefferkorn talked about common scams and how to avoid them.
