Supervisors Appoint Michelle Reichert to Fairgrounds Management Corporation

SAN JOSE – Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian today announced the appointment of Michelle Reichert to the County Fairgrounds Management Corporation. Reichert was appointed by Simitian at the Board’s September 29th meeting.
“Michelle’s a thoughtful, engaged citizen,” said Simitian. “I’m really pleased someone with her skills and commitment to community will be serving on our Fairgrounds Board.”
The County Fairgrounds Management Corporation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation created in 1994 to provide cultural, educational, and recreational events for the people of Santa Clara County. The Corporation is responsible for the planning, fundraising, production, and management of the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.
Reichert is an experienced attorney who has been active in her community for many years. A resident of Los Altos, she has served as a school board member at St. Nicholas School, as well as a program director and advisory board member of the Mountain View Los Altos Scholars organization. She also participated in the LEAD program, which gives community members a chance to gain exposure to city government and services.
Reichert received her B.S. in International Economics from Georgetown University, her M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University, and her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She has professional experience as a technology transactions attorney and part-time general counsel of a computer systems company.
“I’ve always had a desire to work in my community to bring people together to make things better,” said Reichert. “My hope is that with the revitalization of the Fairgrounds, more families from across the County would see the Fairgrounds as an attractive, community-building destination.”
“Michelle arrives on the Fairgrounds Board at an important time,” said Simitian. “The Fair has struggled financially for a great many years; and, our Board of Supervisors is in the middle of an effort to determine the best use of the 150 acre fairground property.”
