Media Advisory - Select Committee on South Bay Arrivals San Mateo County Meeting
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN JOSE - Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian announced a meeting of the Select Committee on South Bay Arrivals, a Congressionally-established committee organized to address the issue of airplane noise over Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz Counties.
The meeting will be held at Carrington Hall at Sequoia High School in Redwood City on Wednesday, June 15th, at 6:00 PM. The meeting is open to the public.
The Select Committee held a similar meeting last month in Santa Cruz County that drew approximately 500 community members.
Carrington Hall is located in the northern portion of the Sequoia high school campus, at the intersection of Brewster Avenue and Broadway. Campus parking lots are accessible off Brewster Avenue, Elwood Street, and James Avenue. There is also on-street parking circling the campus.
“This is a real opportunity to make some progress,” said Simitian, who chairs the Select Committee. “The FAA has acknowledged the problem; the question now is, what do we do to fix it?”
