County Begins Recruitment for Community Resource Group Members for Stanford Development
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN JOSE – Santa Clara County is seeking community members to serve on the Stanford University Community Resource Group (CRG). The group provides input on Stanford development issues, and reviews implementation of the Stanford University Community Plan and General Use Permit.
CRG members are appointed by County Planning Director Kirk Girard, in consultation with District 5 Supervisor Joe Simitian.
“This is a great chance to get involved and help shape our community,” said Simitian. “I’d encourage anyone with an interest in Stanford land issues to step up and apply.”
Generally, the eight to twelve member groups meets quarterly with County planning staff and Stanford University representatives in Palo Alto, and occasionally reviews annual reports and other planning documents.
However, because the University has recently applied to amend their General Use Permit to allow for another 2.275 million square feet of development and more than 3,000 new housing units, the CRG will also be used as a focus group to provide a community perspective to County staff as the County reviews the application. This is in addition to the usual public hearings that are required as part of the review process.
All applications must be received by close of business on March 31. Applications may be downloaded from the County website at:
