County provides grant to the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation for local programs
A Santa Clara County grant to the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF) will augment LAMVCF’s Community Grants Program which supports local nonprofits and organizations addressing emerging needs in the community, including, but not limited to, housing, health care, equity needs, and food insecurity.
Santa Clara County’s safety net services build stronger communities for all
Our county’s safety net includes a wide array of programs covering healthcare, housing assistance and food security, among others. These programs are designed to provide a lifeline to those in need, ensuring that no one is left behind.
County bolsters support for residents experiencing homelessness
Santa Clara County provided grants to the City of Cupertino, Town of Los Gatos, and nonprofit Reach SV in the North County to help supplement services and support for residents experiencing homelessness. Recipients will use County funding to address immediate needs of unhoused residents in those areas.
County Supervisors recognize Mountain View Fire Department as it celebrates 150 years
One of the oldest officially formed fire departments west of the Mississippi River, MVFD is celebrating 150 years of service this year. The department was formed in 1874, when 50 civic-minded residents came together in a “Rogers & Rogers” department store and organized the city’s first brigade, called “Mountain View Station Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1.”
Free screening of “Fentanyl High” sponsored by Supervisor Joe Simitian and City of Mountain View
Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian and the City of Mountain View invite the community to attend a free documentary film screening on April 23 in Mountain View about the opioid epidemic and the dangers of fentanyl. The film was researched and directed by Los Gatos High School student Kyle Santoro. Attendees will be given a free Narcan kit while supplies last.
Measure A funding brings more affordable housing to North County
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors voted to invest up to $31.4 million in three affordable housing developments in North County, with funding largely drawn from the Measure A Affordable Housing Bond voters approved in 2016. The Board also approved the real estate purchase of 1265 Montecito Avenue in Mountain View for the development of Montecito Multifamily Apartments, another Measure A-funded affordable housing development.
All-inclusive playground at Rengstorff Park breaks ground
Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian joined the City of Mountain View and the Magical Bridge Foundation at a groundbreaking celebration for an all-inclusive playground at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Avenue. The Magical Bridge Playground at Rengstorff Park is anticipated to open in fall 2024.
County Supervisors recognize Luisa Buada for her impact on the community
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors honored longtime community health leader Luisa Buada as she retires as Chief of Executive Officer of Ravenswood Family Health Network, which provides primary and preventative care services designed to reach underserved, uninsured and low-income families in northern Santa Clara County and southern San Mateo County.
