A proponent of investing in smart technologies to lighten the traffic burden on our roadways, Supervisor Simitian has supported a number of measures designed to improve conditions for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians on three County expressways. These efforts include implementing and updating traffic responsive signal timing on Foothill, San Tomas and Montague Expressways. By monitoring traffic patterns and adjusting traffic signals as needed, these technologies aim to increase the likelihood that a light will be green when cars arrive and limit the time that drivers spend stopped at intersections.
