Opioid use and fentanyl overdose continue to affect communities across Santa Clara County and the country. In partnership with the Santa Clara County Opioid Overdose Prevention Project (SCCOOPP) and the Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD), Supervisor Simitian held fentanyl education workshops to help get the word out about Narcan and its lifesaving effects. He held panel discussions in Los Gatos and Palo Alto, and in 2024, he hosted a screening of “Fentanyl High,” a documentary film about the opioid epidemic and the dangers of fentanyl as researched and directed by Los Gatos High School student Kyle Santoro. At each of these events, free Narcan kits have been distributed to attendees.
