In 2017, 2018, and 2019, Supervisor Simitian co-hosted and moderated a three-part speaker series called “Understanding Islam.” The first event drew such community interest that the subsequent events were moved to a larger venue, and Supervisor Simitian decided to host similar panels in two additional cities. Each panel drew from a network of experts to discuss topics of interest and provide community members the opportunity to ask questions.
