In May 2021, Supervisor Simitian partnered with Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) to produce a series of panel discussions devoted to understanding the Asian American and Pacific Islander experience. Planned for months in advance, the timing coincided with Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month and a rise in anti-Asian hate incidents and crimes.
The three-panel series with subject matter experts from across the country was produced virtually to allow participation during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
